Wax Resist Watercolor
After a short presentation on batik design and dyeing of fabrics, young artists will draw an underwater scene with white crayon and apply watercolors. Children will learn about wet-in-wet technique and a texture painting tricks.

Collage Street Scene
Works of various collage artists will be presented. Using paper, fabric, objects and pastels, children will create an imaginative street scene.

Print Station
After the process of block printing with woodcuts is shown, Using that knowledge, young artists will produce printed art from their carved impressions on styrofoam sheets.

Halloween Pop-Up
Celebrate this spooky holiday by creating a pop-up card. Vintage cards and elaborate pop-up books will be on hand, as well as short presentation on the history of pop-ups.

Foil Art
Well take a close look at the Aztec culture's arts and using a variety of tools, young artists will emboss a sun design on foil panels. After we add color, well mount the finished creations on boards.

Cave Art
Views of the fascinating primitive art in the Caves of Lascaux in France will be shown and discussed. On specially prepared paper, children will render scenes with crude materials. No paintbrushes allowed!

Optical Illusions
Young artists will learn about Victor Vasarely, known as the founder of optical art. We'll learn how to manipulate form and shading in order to fool the eye.

Tree of Life
After viewing how various cultures interpret Tree of Life, well discuss how symbols represent ideas. Each child will then make a list of treasures in their life and craft a tree and symbols from torn paper collage decoupage.

Winter Tree Blues
Young artists will try various masking and special effect techniques to produce a winter tree scene. Well concentrate on blending one or two watercolors to produce a high contrast creation.

Wire Sculpture
Well view the various sculptures of wire artist Alexander Calder and learn about his early years in Europe with his traveling wire sculpture circus. Children will learn about line, form, balance and whimsy when they construct their own wire assemblages.
